MAGISTRATE'S COURT

POLIOE AND MAINTENANCE CASES. Mr. J. S. Evans, 6.M., presided at ths Magistrate's Court yesterday morning*, and dealt with the police cases. William Matthews waa fined 10s., ill default 24 hours' imprisonment, for drunkenness (his second offence), and for committing an indccent net in Taranaki Street ho wan fined 20a. Archibald M'Naughton was fined 40s„ with the alternative of seven days' imprisonment for drunkenness <hls third offence), and for two breaches of his prohibition order he wns fined <os. on cach chargo, in default 48 hours' imprisonment. A fine of 20b., with the alternative of 24 hours' impriconraont, was inflicted on Ernest T. J. Bray, who na« convicted of '•nmmittiuc an indecent act in Kidney Street. For drunkennoss, Henry Jamoß Day (second offence) wns fined 40s. with the option of 48 hours' imprison raent. MAINTENANCE CASES. Marlon Ethol Rocho (for whom Mr. W. G. Mcllleh appeared) sought a separation from hor husband William Roche on the grounds of cruelty and drunkenness. Mr. A. B. Sievwright appeared for the defendant. After a hearing extending over about four hours the Magistrate said ho thought tho plaintiff had established her caso. He granted the reparation, and ordered tho defendant to pay cost*.
