MUNICIPAL MILK SUPPLY
Sir,—Your note ro council's milk operations for month of Juno gives a wrong impression to the general public. You will notice that the statement placed before the council was given as an average ono foi' the year, aud that tho debit balance was a total one for tho council's operations since .-its inception, including preliminary expenses. Tho council's pol'icy was for one prico throughout the year; this Jed to a debit balance in Octobor, 1919, of which was rcduced during tho summer in February to £2300. Having again reached tho winter period, - the debit balance is again rising.
Owing to tho' fluctuation in the price paid for milk to the farmers, the Milk Committee has so far. not succeeded in fixing a price to the consumer that will just balance tlio ledger. They, however, will bo in a better position to do this during the next twelve months, tho basis of tho price to bo paid having been fixed by tho Board of Trade.—l am, etc., W. 11. BENNETT,-. Acting-Chairman ililk Committee. July 24, 1920..
