GOOD-WILL AND THE CHURCHES

(•»wa on oj) Sir,--It is .quite evident that Mr. Lloyd Georgo's reference to the churchos helping to bring peace and good-will amongst the oommumty of the world Ims not fallen on deaf ears. First, His Lordslnp Bishop Sprott, nt his opening address of the Synod, and now His Grace Archbishop O'Shtti.. Now, Sir, according to these two _ reverend gentlemen's statements, religion is nil right, but how am I, a common layman, to lake lvtico of them or anybody eise. when we have seen and heard of the things that wers being done in the Dominion during the war and 6ince? Did not Sir James Alien get at loggerheads with some if the heads of different denominations because he would not allow certain filthy reading to come into the country? If you must liave peace and good-will on earth, the priest and parson must set tho example. It is no good going to church on Sunday with' the Bible under your arm, and tli'a other six days of the week blundering other religions. Archbishop O'Shea savs the Prime Minister is no fool. I quite agreo with him on that point, as I nm one of his supporters, and don't care one iotia what religion lie or anybody else is, and I hope ho will keep sectarianism free from his party. Only the other day I saw a letter in your columns referring, to the railway strike by a religious body, 'saying tliat they would use their influence (I don't know of what value it is) to better their position. Now, Sir, if the men are entitled to better nay, etc., why should any religious body have to use their influence. Can't they trust Mr. Mnssey to givo them a scfaare deal—l can.—l am, etc., | A. DEIST.
