In North Otago the weather lias been so dry that cultivation of lea land particularly lias been considerably interfered with, and consequently the autumn sown wheat may be Itelow the average. These conditions apply also to South Canterbury, but in both North Otago and South Canterbury there will be an extensive sowing of wheat in August.
