ALLEGED FEELING OF DISTRUST FINANCIER'S REPLY TO MR. THEODORE By TeloKruph—Press Association—OopyTlgM (Rec, July 21, 8.30 p.m.) London, July 20. With reference to the speech of Mr. Theodore, Premier of Queensland, at his farewell dinner, a leading Anglo-Austra-in the course of an interview, said that any difficulty and loss of credit with whiclu Mr. Theodore found himself faced in London was not due to any misunderstanding or prejudice on the part of financiers or Stock Bxchango members, but to a widespread feeling of distrust caused principally by the passing of the Land Act Amendment Act, 1920, which the financial community of London reg.irded as a breach of faith and a violation of contract. It was unreasonable for Mr. Theodore to say that tho refusal to lend Ms Government money was an interference with the sovereign rights of Queensland. The character of legislation in any country was the governing factor in its ability to raise loans in the London market, and if ther? were a Government in Queensland which commanded tho confidence of investors in London, any money for loan would bo readily forthcoming.—Aus.-N.Z.
