A representative deputation waited upon Mr. H. A. Harris, traffic inspector .it Mar ton Junction on Thursday, and m!"lcrepresentations to him concerning the need for increasing Hie yarding and trucking facilities at Marton Junction. It was urged that the existing arrangements were quito inadenuate for the increasing trade of the junction, and that in the course of transit sheep got so bruised in the yards that they had to be classed as seconds at. the freezing -works. This was a distinct loss to producers, and should not be permitted to continue. Mr. Harris, in reel,v. admitted l the growing importance of Mnrton Junction, which was, ho said, now only second to Palmorston North, and said he would submit the matter to the Department's engineers. Oroua district promises well during tho coming season, and Quite a uumbor of new supplies are expected. Cows are already coming into profit, and as the stock generally is in good condition, the now season should open up well. At Marton the local dairy company has sold ita output of cheese for next season at Is. 2d. per lb. F.ob„ which will assure suppliers 2e. Gel. per lb. for buttor-fat. This is a very distinct gain as compared with pre-war prices, when factory suppffers considered 11(1. ner lb. for but-ter-fat an excellent price.
