OTIRA TUNNEL DISPUTE

NOT YET SETTLED. By Telegraph—Presi Association, Christchurch, July 17. The workers at the Bealey end of the Otira'tnnnel are still negotiating for new contract rates with the Public Works Engineer, Mr. A. Diirnie, who was sent specially from Wellington -to deal with the tunnel dispute. The organiser of the Canterbury Progross League received the following telegram tc-uay from tho men's secretary: -"Mr. Dinnie's offer of M 9s. per foot less than Otira. refused by us. Our oiler £2 17s. less than Otira refused by Mr. Dmiiie."
