The district/ said the deputation had decided to proceed with a scheme for tho development of. 1000' horse-powor, and wished the sanction and assistance of the Public Works Department, The .people were prepared either'to do the work themselves or to assist the-Gov-ernment in doing it, and they desired to know the views of the Government. , Mr. Coates said that if the scheme was m order it would be sanctioned. He would have inquiries made, and inform the member for the district (Mr. Campbell) of the result. .He recommended the deputation to confer with the officers'I of the Department. •
