CENTRAL PROGRESS LEAGUE
.4 .Matters in connection with tho organisation of the Parliamentary .Committee of the Central Progress League made considerable advance at the meeting held at Parliament House yesterday morning. There were present: Dr. A. K. Newman, Messrs, J. P. Luke, K. A, Wright, and G. Mitchell (City), W. H. Field (Otaki), W. S. Glenn (Kangitikei), W. D. Lysnar (Gisborne), W. A. Voitclv'(Wangnnui), A. M'Nicol (Pahiatua), E. P. Hudson (Motuekal. J. A. Nash (Palmerstou North), A. D. M'Lcod (WairaTapn), G. It. Sykes (Mnstertou), G. Hunter (Waipawa). Mr. G. Hunter was elected to tho chair and Mr. Mitchell as hon. secretary. After considerable discussion on the public works requirements of the districts concerned, it was unanimously decided to press the following ns the most urgent requirements in the order of their iirgency:-l. Houses. ?.. Schools. 3. Hydro-eleetrio development. 4. Koads. 5. Kail ways. G. Better shipping service (especially to tho coast ports, and the South Island). The question of financa, Native londs, land settlement, and other matters were discussed. Committees were set up to go further into various matters and report at the meeting on Thursday next at 10 a.m. The meeting was a very enthusiastic one, and reflected a spirit of development and progress which'is now being aroused throughout the country.
