N.Z. RUGBY UNION
A meeting of the Management Committee of the New Zoaland Rugby Union was held last night. Mr. G W. Slade presided, and there were also present Messrs. T. H. Jones, J. M. Piki, S. S. Dean, H. Pnton, and R. T. Bailey. _ The meeting was mainly in committee, and very little business was done. J Shearer (Wellington) ht»s been selected to' fill the vacancy caused in tho New Zealand team to visit Australia by tho defection of M. Cnin (Taranaki), W. M. O'Leary (South Canterbury) was originally chosen, but he had the bad luck to meet with an accident whilo at work a day or so later, and thus could not accept tho invitation.
