[The Empress Eugenie, widow of tho Inst Emperor of the French, Napoleon 111, was tho daughter cf n Spanish nobleman, and of the daughter of ■an American Consul at Malaga (a Scotsman by birth). She was n, notnblo figure in French politics, an able, supporter of her husband, and a strong and impressive survivor of the collapse of the Empire. When the Emperor's rule ended 6he went into retirement with him and his eon in England, end when ho died took up her residence at Farnborougn.J
