CARPENTIER-DEMPSEY MATCH. New York, July 9. Kearns, Curley, Carpentier, Descamps, and Brady held a conference with the aim of arranghig a contest between Dempsey and Carpentier. The conference did not result in any decision, and it is virtually pertain that no bout can be staged before 1921. The outstanding facts were as follow:—Kcarns said the Denipsey fight could not take place in the United States. Brady, who represents Coohrnn, pointed out'that the contract between Cochran and Carpentier held good till January 1, 1921, and precluded any meeting between Deiupscy and Carpentier until tho new year unless under Cochran's promotion. Cochran desires to stage the battle in Europe. Descamps said Carpentier would Kladly meet Derupsty in Paris or London in November or Decombor. Curley, who arranged tho bout between Carpentier and Battling Lcyinsky in October, 1920, refused to rolense liotiv men, although Kearus offered a handsome bonus. Kearns said he would therefore awajt tho outcome of the Levinsky battle before arranging the DenrpsoyCarpenlier bout.—Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn.
