DAVIS CUP CONTEST
AUSTRALASIAN PLAYERS' CHANCJiS (Kec. July 12, 8.15 p.m.) Sydney, July 12. The newspaper "Sun," in a leader re. ferring to ffiWon's defeat of .Patterson, says; "Australasian tennis players must be wondering how Australia s next Davie Cup team is going to shape against the Americans. Ifad Australian or British players anything to give away to the Americans the change of venue to Mew Zealand would not be of iiuiqli consequence, but on the present showing they have nothing to. give, and will surrender a valuable advantage by playing in .New Zealand, where they will bo as much on foreign, soil and in a foreign atmosphere as will the Americans." The> paper adds that playing in' New therefore, with.the- chances as they are, may well result in the defeat of the Australians. It suggests that the New Zealand Association, in generously waiving their rights, might help to keep the Cup in the Empire.—Press Assn.
