WELLINGTON ROWING CLUB
THE NEED OF SYSTEMATIC ■ TRAINING. The annual meeting of the Wellington " Rowing Club was held last night. Mr. R. Crawford presided. The annual report stated that during ' the year 26 new members were elected, and only two resignations were received. The balance-sheet" showed a credit of .£32 ss. 2d. The revenue had increased from i!l9 4s. id. last season to .£ll7 15s. 9d. this season. The report stated that the club was now on the up grade, and urged the need 'of proper and systematic training. Several times at regattas - during the season Wellington Club crews had been defeated because they were not in good training. The report pointed out that the crews did not. adopt any system of gradual development, and they appeared not to realise that running, walking, etc., were as essential for'.tiainiiig as work in the boats. It was suggested that.an effort should be made to . obtain competent coaches for the regatta 1 1 crows and ndw members. The chairman mentioned that the club bad been marking time, but now was going ahead again. He urged members to "buck in" and get busy early.
