Prior to his departure, Lord Liverpool commissioned him to paint his portrait, which represents a fine piece of '<*rlf. It shows His Excellency in the unMorra of colonel of the Rille Brigade. The picture has been taken to England. M/. Bowring has also just completed a portrait of Mr. Gavin Hamilton, who was private secretary to His Excellency. This also has gone Home. Unfortunately, there was not tiniQ for tho publio to see these two paintings. Tho annual report of tho Wellington Rowing Club mentions tho loss sustained in tho death of Messrs. A. C. Barry and J.
