Sir,—ln a recent issue you published the opinion of the New Zealand. Welfare League on this question. My name,.in my official capacity, wag freely used by the league. I have frequently been urged to reply to the league where they touch .upon my official activities. I have lepiied that my association is under a pledge to wait, and wait patiently, for the outcome of tho Government's acceptance (through the Prime Minister) of the basis of adjusting our salary, or wage troubles, ' It was not my concoptimr of waiting patiently to enter upon a 'controversy, especially on a subjcct on which public opinion is keenly divided. It has now been pointed out to me that my silence is being misconstrued. Will you.. therefore, kindly make known • the reason for allowing tho matter to pass without comnient?
