People all over the world aro crying out for more houses. More houses demand more timber, and this means that ihe existing forests must be opened up to supply the roquhemonts. There are not many largo forests left in New Zealand: some of the beat are in Smith Wostland. To cut out 10,000 acres of timber near Oknriio, on the West Coast, the Great Western Timber Company, Lid., is being formed. Timber prices aro high at present and tho world shortage of timber is a surety that big prices must be maintained.
