Considerable interest centred on the following remit -which was moved by Mr. W. Perry (Masterton) at yesterday's sittiHtr of the Council of Agriculture:— "That the time has arrived in the interests of stock breeding in New Zealand that a championship show be held alternately in the North and South Islands, so that visitors in search of stud, stock would be able to see the best of our breeds, and so encourage the exportation of stud animals. The following; conditions to apply: (1) That, in order that this con bo successfully carried out it Would be necessary for the Government to assist the'society under whoso jurisdiction the show would bo held. (2) That an/ association giving ,£IOOO in prizes shall bo eligible to apply for such championship show to be held in ita district. (3) Lots to bq drawn in order to decido the rotation of those associations applying for the . championship show to be held in their district. (4) Champion of New Zealand medals to.be provided by the different breeding) associations be allocated each year for the champion in each breed." Mr. T. R. Hodder (Palmerston North) pointed to the success achieved by tho Royal Show at Sydney. Breeders had long been looking for new market?, and the proposal would bo of immense help to them. If the proposed show was supported by the Board of Agriculture, he hoped that the board would; approach tha Government fo- a subsidy. - Several other speakers were inclined to view tho propo'nl as somewhat prematura Tho difficulties and expenso of transporting stock between the two Islands were also touched upon. Ultimately tho remit' was carried unanimously, and it was decided to forward it io the Minister of Agriculture, the various A. and P. associations and breeders' associations of New Zealand, asking for their co-operation to carry it Lout,
