TOWN HALL ORGAN RECITALS
i Sir,—ln the letter from your correspondent "Advance Reasonably" in Monday's issue, all ideas of advance and a great deal of reason are conspicuous by their absence. Does anyone think we are ever likely to advanco in the matter of art if we sit' down and imagine we are contented with picture shows, light vaudeville, and such entertainments, which make but little, if any, demand on vthe intelligence? If New.Zealand is to take her place with the leading countries of the world, it is not to those who spend their leisure momenta in picture theatres and dancing halls that we shall look, but to those who use their 6pare moments to improve their mirfds and increase their knowledge by acquaintance with the masterpieces of art—l am, etc., ADVANCE [This correspondence is now closed.]
