Hughes, whV liaa been with the agency since its ineestion. Miss Hughes is leaving, to assume a re" sponsible position with the Christchurcli branch of the agency, and many, eulogistio remarks were made concerning het eer-' ' vices. At the conclusion of the gather* inc. The .wedding took place in the 'Anglican Church, Lower Hutt,'yesterday afternoon" of Miss Huia BulHey, youngest daughter of Mrs. Bulkley, of Wellington,'and the late Mr. R. Bulkley), : wore a frock of pale , pink _ tullo, made with- a frilled skirt, and with a panelled bain of embroidered gold tissue, a panel of which also formed : the . front, of'the'frock.* Her tulle veil'wag fastened, with a oirclet of orange blosr soms. and ehe .carried a bouquet of pink , flowerß -with maidenhair fern. Tho bridesmaids were:-Miss - Doris Herman, 6'ster of the bridegroom,Yand two little girlß, nieces of:the bride, -Kathleen Cam-eron-.and Pamela Fulton. : Tlje chief bridesmaid/wore'a frilled frock of mauve taffetas with a .wide brimmed hat of the same shade of mauve; - 6ho carried a bouquet of daphno and piiik flowers. . The two little'girls were in ;pink silk frocks frilled to . the waist, with plain bodices , and gold oirolet on their, heads.They carried posies of pink flowers. The best man was Mr.-Anderson: '. Star Boating Club Ball. ;' Not since 1814 has the Star . Boating Club held its annuaj bali, and naturnlly much interest centred upon that cf- last iright, the first to bo held, since' tho outbreak of war. The Town JIall; in which it was held, had been-charmingly 'decorated. , The colours 'chosen vera mauve;.aiid white, the' olub colours of blue and white being reserved for tho stage. A transparent mauve materia} lined the walls of the big chamber, and 'inauve' and white streamers were tarried from the central electrolier to the'froiit of the gallery, which was draped witn festoons'of yellow over th 6 mauve, and ornamented with crossed. oars, underneath the! gallery alowves had beeo_ rirranged. which were aimforUbly furnish-. Vl. with couches and, easy' chairs, and decorated with stands of flowers, palniß, and mirrors. The whole effect wa6 light and artistic. ■ Bach alcove' was/ named after a Wellington hay.
