GIRLS' BRANCH OF THE NAVY LEAGUE
ANNUAL MEETING. Tho annual meeting of 'the girls' branch of the Navy League was held in the Dominion Farmers' Institute on Monday! . : .There, .-was a good attendance of members, and Mr?. C. Earle presided'. . . , In moving the adoption of the report and balance-sheet, Mrs. Earle emphasised the fact to. the meeting, that while there were privileges-and . pleasures- which-fell to their lot as. members of the girls branch" of tho Navy League, there were also responsibilities, and it was not fair to accept the one and not the other. As members of tho Navy League they should put engagements and duties in cennection with it before all other engagement}, and should regard its wort ds being of the first- importance.. That had not beea the case in the past. Mr. Darroch, secretary of the Mvy League, pointed out what the jw? League stood for, what were its aims and objects.' He also told -his hearers of tha hi"h opinion Lord Jclhcoe had .ot the Navy League, the Admiral going so tar as to say. that when ho' retired, from active duty he would make the advancement of the Navy League his work. Tha social activities of tho which had so far fallen to the .ot of the girls' branch were not to be; ■the only v:ork for them to do. There ■was propaganda work, clerical work, th securing of as many new -membeis as possible, and there lav a most valuable field of work before them in regaid to children. There .tliey could be of the greatest use. He hoped the girls would rally to the work 9 /he league and help as much as possible.
