RETURNED SOLDIERS
Returned soldieis 1 are expected to attend in large numbers to-night the extraordinary general meeting, which is to be held in the club rooms, LambtoniQuay, nt 7.30-o'clock, to discuss the statement .recently made "by the Prime Minister regarding the finance of the "Dominion and the possible effect it will on tho present scheme of advances to returned soldiers. Local members of Parliament have expressed their intention of accepting the invitation to' be present and listen to the debate. Meetings will bo held throughout the Dominion at tho same time, and it is hoped that the effect will be to impress upon the Government the necessity of giving this matter its urgent consideration. A very important resolution will be moved !>y the president, Mr. W. Perry, and seconded by Mr. A. B. Sievwright, after which'tho members will be asked to state their views on tho subject. 1
A meeting of the executive of the New Zealand Automobile Union was held las* night. Dr, C.. P. Knight presided. The question of the acceptance of the realisations of the Otago Motor Olub, and the Canterbury Automobile Association was •reforred to the annual meeting.. It was decided to liold the annual meeting on July 22.. - Some excellent 6liooting has been dono by Mr. L. P. Wrigley, secretary of the Wellington Harbour Board Eiflo Olub, who has secured :tho hat trick by malting a possible of 70 in the last three matches.
