STREET LIGHTING RATE. The Finance Committee recommended to the City Council last night thafr >\ street lighting rata of tjd. in the £ on the annual value be levied for the yoar 1920-21. The Mayor said the Finance Committee had gone into tho mnttor of expenditure very carefully and had come to the conclusion that the new rate must lw levied in order to meet the council's liabilities. Councillor L. MTvenzie said ho trusted the recommendation [ would be passed, otherwise the outlying districts would auSer on account of insufficiency of funds.
The recommendation was adopted.
