MAN ATTEMPTS TO BOARD MOVING TRAIN. Carrying a tin of kerosene in a sack slung over Ms shoulder, Frederick Thompsons ft, wharf labourer, of 127 Jackson Street, Petone, yesterday attempted to board tho 6.14 p.m. outward-bound train from Lam'btoh after it had gathered a fair speed. The gate of the carriage platform was closed, and that fact, together with tho unwieldiness of his burden and the speed of the train, apparently caused Thompson to lose his balance and fall between the last two carriages.
The wheels of the last carriage passed over both his legs, and also over ono arm. Ho was Attended by Dr.; Young, and was thereafter removed as promptly a» possible to the Public-Hospital. He died at 10.30 p.m. Such information as was available last night indicated that Thompson was n, 6ingle man about thirty years of age. He' was merely a bcarder at the address given above.
