EXPORT OF POTATOES
• THE AUSTRALIAN EMBAEGO. By Teleeraph—Press Aosoclatlon. Christchurch, June 23. The Prime Minister has written to tho secretary of the Far-more' Union as follows regarding the import of potatoes :— "I huvo been for some little time past in cable communication vith the Prime Minister of the Commonwealth, this being supplementary to czhcr communications sent by the Department of Agri' culture. In spite of all efforts, however, the Australian authorities refused to remove their embargo, tnough an undertaking has been given by the Zealand Government that any form of inspection, no matter how rigid, desired by the Commonwealth authorities, would be willingly carried out here over the potatoes we ship. I may add that the matter has. not been dropped,' and I intend again to take it up with tho Commonwealth Government."
