Secondly, that increase of consumption Australasian' meat which was recently stated by Food Controller to he approximately 40 per cent, is being maintained fully. _ I asked whether owing to. result of shipment of our meat'to America tho shortage of lamb in this country was being taken exception to, and Ministry of Food, replied that public would naturally welcome Inrger.qunntity of lamb and smaller quantity mutton, but in view of representations previously made by Government of New Zealand it is regarded as paramount necessity to clear.New Zealand stores, and action taken and reason for it are sufficiently appreciated by the public and the trade."
