TIMBER PRICES
INCREASE ALLOWED IN TEE NORTH. The Board of Trade .advises that authority lins recently been eiTen to Auckland and Wnikato eaivmillcrs and timber merchants to increase the prices of timber 'by amounts ranging from In. per .100 for o.b, classes to 3s. per 100 for 'first-class kauri. These' prices are neoMsitnted on account of the increaso in ivaj;es recently awarded by, the Court to sawmill workers in these districts, evidence having been submitted to the Board that the increases - .in price are justified on account: of the additional costs incurred as a Tesult of the increase in wages.' The increase granted by the Board ,is merely sufficilat- to cover the recent additional increase in wages and does not allow for increased profits to the sawmillers. .
