Mr. J. Kennedy, who has been manager of the Palmerston North gasworks since they were started by a private company some twenty-two years ago,_ and who was reappointed to tho position when the Borough Counoil took tho works over some five years ago, has resumed his position, having accepted tho secretaryship of the TVollington Gas Company. With his father; and Mr. Edwards, of Napier, ho enn olaim the distinction of being one of the pionoers of tho gas industry in New Zealand, and he is ono of the oldest managers. His loss will be greatly felt not only by tho Borough Counoil but also by the citisena, ns ho has taken u lively Interest in the clvio and social life of Pfilmeraton North.
