There have been astonishing forest fires in Scotland, including one in the Glentanar Fqrost, which threatened tho destruction of Abeyue, a famous Deeeide resort. Troops wore called out and a thousand beaters were engaged. Finally Lord Glentanar ordered that the Abeyne deer forest should •be fired and this saved Abeyne, by holding up tho oncoining Glentanar fire. Ten thousand animals were wasted to' death.—Aus.N.Z.
