These were interfered with by rain, but the weather generally has been favourable. Moreover, there is o distinctly brighter spirit in this season's cricket. Hobbs (Surrey) leads the batting with an average of G0.84. Then follow Lee (Middlesex!), 59.54; Hendren (Middlesex), 59,41; Hearne (Middlesex), 68.63. Ixodes (Yorkshire), heads the bowling with forty-six wickets, average 10.15; /Cook (Kent) follows* with sixty-one wickets, average 12. Yorkshire is leading in the county championship.—Aub.-N.Z.
