In the Mnsterton Magistrate's Court on Monday a. married woman' named! Eli7A Perry was charged with breaking and entering the residence of Phillip Austin Selwyn at Kopuarnnga, and stealing therefrom a quantity of spoons, a .knife and towel, a shoet, and a quantity of lady's underwear, to the total, value of £20. Evidence was Riven by Phillip Austin Selwyn, railway 'surfaceman, stationed at Kopuaranßn, that on two or throe occasions when, ho and his wife had returned from visits to Masterton, they had missed various articles. Including house linen, cutlery, and ladies' underwear. 'Witness identified most of the articles produced in Court. Similar evidence was Riven by Barbara. Lnbella Selwyn, wifo of the previous ■witness, and by Constablo Gurden, who. searched Perry's house and found tho articles produced. • Accused, who plondod not guilty and reserved lior defGnco, was committed for trial at the next sittiiiß of the Supremo Court at Masterton. Bail was fixed in ft personal surety of Mr. W. Beauohamp-Platts, secretary to tho Now Zealand Automobile Union, addressed a public meoting of motorists in Peatherston on Tuesday, under tho ouspices of tho Waiiurapa Automobilo Association. He gavo an intcresthg ovtune of the functions of tho union, and made special rcforeiieo to roadiiu taxation, and registration problems, also tho vexed question of headlights. At the. conclusion Mr. Platts was heartily thanked on tho motion of Mr. W. Benson, a. vicepresident of the Wairarapn Association.
