FATALITY AT WAINUI
An inquest was held by Mr. E. Page, S.M, yesterday into the circumstances surrounding tho death of H. T. Witohor, of Wainui-c-mata. , Tho evidence showed that deceased died of a gunshot wound, the b\illcfc penetrating tho brain. Deceased had lived with his two daughters at his farm at Wainui-o-mnta. It appeared that on Tuesday afternoon the body of deceased, who was recovering from an operation, was found resting on a box in a shed some distance from tho house. In doss proximity to tho box was a doublebarrelled gun, the muzzle of which was pointing away from the body. The gun contained "a discharged and nn undischarged cartridge. Tho Coroner's finding was that deceased wna killed by tho discharge of a cartridge out of a double-barrelled gun he was handling. There was no evidence to show that the discharge wns caused accidentally or otherwise, but the evidence wa? consistent with tho suggestion that the explosion was accidental, and might have occurred through' deceased's tripping, the hammer striking some obstacle and causing tho discharge.
