BOWLS
f— WELLINGTON . CLUB'S ANNUAL MEET ING. There was a large attendance at the! annual meeting of the Wellington Bowling Club held last evening. The president (Mr. Thomas Ballinger) occupied the chair. In moving tho adoption of the report and' balance-sheet (a precis of which has already appeared), the president said that during tho year they had lost through death several of their most valued members. These were Messrs. 0. Hili, R. Mowat, D. J. Nathan, G. Remington, A. W. Yarrall, and P. Still. During tho year they had also said good-bye to Mr. F. Ilaybittle (who had gone to England). There was not very much in tho report, and he would leave it to inombers to discuss.
In giving a review of the club's financo, Mr. Salek gave Bpnclal credit to the auditor (Mr. E.-A. Liddlc); indeed, without his assistance ho doubted if the balance-sheet would have been before them that night. There were a few discrepancies in tho balance-sheet, which were satisfactorily oxplaincd. Be thought the balanco-shcet was a particularly satisfactory one. The increase in the ..revenue of £250, and a decrease in expenditure he thought every member must consider satisfactory. It took £741 a year to run the club, but there wore always extras to meet, each year over and above the ordinary expenditure. lie considered that they could not run the club under an annual expenditure of £850—lie did not know how it could be done for less.. To Bhow tho confidence of members in the club and Hb management, several of them had offered him money on deposit, one to the extent of £1500, but he had no use for tho :/ljney and hi® refused it. Ho considered that when the finances showed that they were £300 better oil than they, were last year every member should feel satisfied.
The president said there was certain expenditure to be faced during the coming .year, namely, the painting of the pavilion inside and out. That should be done, as the big tournament waß.to bo held here during the coining season. Tho report was adopted. The election of officers resulted as follows : —President, Mr. M. Carr; vlce-presj-dent, Mr. G. Magnus: hon. secretary, Mr. P. J. l'asker; hon. treasurer, Mr. I. Salek; directors, Jfcßsrs. W. Glendlnlng, A. W.vlio, L. Ledger, H. Smith, and W. J. Thompson; hon. auditor, Mr. E. A. Liddle: match committee, Messrs. A. Lawson and Frank Marshall. The winners of prizes won during last season received their trophies at the' hands of the retiring president (llr, "T Ballipger).
