ACUTE SUGAR SHORTAGE

Ono of the first serious results of the acute sugar shortage in Nelson is the effect on Kirkpatrick's jam factory and Griffin's biscuit factory. Both havo had to take 'drastic steps in reducing the number, of employees, including married men._ Only the chocolate department is working at Griffin's, and further curtailments at Kirkpatrick's are threatened.
