Kishwortli)' presided over Tuesday's meeting- of the Lower Hutt Borough Council., ■' The of the-Municipal Asaocin.tion wrote advising that the annual, subscription had been increased by 50 ner cent., to tak'o effect as from July 1, 1920 '-The Mayor stated that aa a member, of the executive he had not been consulted in the, matter, and, aii far as he knew, the Mayor of Petone was in the Bame position. :A letter was received from the Stratford Borough Council asking! the council's support to the following resolution:—"That the Government} be asked to take tho necessary steps to malro Saturday afternoon .the universal, half-holiday throughout the Dominion."—The Mayor remarked that the council was not a political concern, an>l should not try to direct members of Panlianvemt- in their path ofiduty.
