SATURDAY'S GAMES. After last wtflk's rain tho grounds at Karori Park were very sloppy on Saturday, but this did not prevent some fine exhibitions of hockey. Tbo eanio between ,-Wakatu and Wellington was from both the players and the spectators' point of view very interesting. Both teams were in good condition, and a fast scientific same resultod. Wakatu perhaps rather underestimated their opponents, who played with great dash. The Wellington forwards did fine work, but the Wakatu backs wcro.vcry Bate, and repeatedly refused to: let the ball. past. Still the Blue and Blacks managed to find tho net twice, which score was replied to by the Nejson team with three goals. 'Past and furious was tho game between Barablers and . Central. Central seemed determined to make up for their one lobs of tho season by gaimmr a victory from last year's champions. The Green and Whites, however, were dually determined to keep in the running and played a heady forward and good defensive game. The final score was 7 to 6. Huia after a. good same scored a victory from Hutt Valley. The younger team did not commence with, their usual dash and for a time it looked as though the All .Beds. would have a walk-over. A sudden rush, however, by. Hailwood Baved the position, and Huia opened the score.Hutt replied with a score, but tho Black and .Whites were, now working well tonether and play changed from end to end niiickly. Shortly after the opening of the second spell Hula got away, aud notched two goals in succession and shortly afterwards found tho net for a fourth time. Hailwood played a great game, often endangering, the Hutt ?oal, but the Beds put up a sound defence, and the gamo ended' with tho' score at 4 to 1. . . . ' , • United, did not get so easy a victory from the College students as some had exrfosted. A little more combination among thn Greens and they will be a hard team to beat. ■ The. score after a hardfought game was:—United, 2; University, 0. Karori made it hot for St. Augustine's on Saturday. The state of the grounds made combination play practically an impossibility. Tho play on the whole though was good, and, it cannot bo said that the winning team "reatly outclassed their opponents. Score: Karori. 4; St. Augustine's, 2. > ' ' Junior Results.
