MR. HUGHES MAINTAINS SILENCE.
Sydney, June 12. Mr. Hughes, when acquainted with Mr.'Watfs statement that he had been advised of Mr. Watt's resignation, declined to make any coramont whatever. —Pres6 Assn; PROGRESS OF WOOL NEGOTIATIONS (Rec. June 13, 5.5 p.ir..) London, June 11. •. It is nuthoritativoly stated that Mr. Watt suspended tho wool negotiations a fortnight ago, when the rupture Iwith Mr. Hughes began to develop. At that time the negotiations had reached the following stage.:—Tho British Government had definitely refused Mr. Hughes's request to suspend the London sales for six months. Tim Government vns prepared to pay Mr. Watt .£10,000,000 immediately as tho first instalment of the profits. Tho Government will shortly publish a..report and balance-sheet of the sales to March 31, 1919.—Au5.-N.Z. Cable Assn.
