NORTH CANTERBURY BRANCHES. By Tclcffrajih—Press Anomtion. Christchurch, Juno 10. Tho annual conference of the delegates, of the North Canterbury branches of the New Zoaland Farmers' Union opened this morning, Mr. Jones, M.P., presiding. In his address ho said that tho past season had been very satisfactory to producers. As to the future, they were faced with • great congestion of wool and meat in the Dominion, and woo! in Australia. It was decided that the Government be asked to remove tho duty on imported timbers, and abolish differential railway freights; also that the Governnifint. bo urged to push forward with afforestation, tspccinlly in regard to quick-grow-ing trees, with a view to supplying tho needs of the dairy and fruit industries. Tho following resolutions' wore passed: That this conference recommend to the Dominion Conference the matter of the co-operative marketing of produce; that wool growers be paid for their wool bales on the same basis as formers for their cornsacks; that the draft on wool bo abolished.
