AERATED WATER WORKERS' DISPUTE
A COMPLETE AGREEMENT. Tho Wellington Brewers, Bottlers, Bottle Washers, and Aerated Water Employ-. ees' Union yesterday reached n complete agreement with the employers regarding pay and conditions' of work. The dispute wns- settled by the Conciliation Council, presided over by llr. W. iNcw ton (Commissioner). The assessors wem: For the union—Messrs. J. liead, T. Johneon, and S. Wiskovie. For the emplov-ers---Mess:s. E. Uallichan, J. Laing, and 11. Simmonds. The main .points of the new ngro A -ment are. aß.follQ.w;:—.. 'Machine bottlers shall-bo ss. ' « ' week,,' and general. hands, £1 ■ 155.. ft. week for the first two months, £& for the next two-months, and..®) 3 s. ther*aftor. Tho wages mentioned carry a bonus of 10s. a week. Casual labour is to be paid at the rate of Is. 9d. an hour. Youths under 10 are to receive Xl'ss. a week; youths from-16 to IS, £1 155.; 18 to 20, £2 10s.; '10 to 21, .-E2 12s. 6d. ' The proportion of youths employed mpy not be more than on« to every three men. Overtime is to lie' paid for at the rate of time and a half, but Sundaywork shall count as double, time. The holidays (itc to be the same as those set out' in the previous award, with one important exception: the workers are in future to-have one week's an-' niial holiday on full pay. Two years has been fixed as the term of the agreement, which will; operato from July 1. ' In the old award the rate for «eneral hands was 12s. a week after four' months' service. At the end of yesterday's s'ttine, tho parties exchanged congratulations, and both sides thanked the Commissioner for the tactful-Way in which he had eonducted the p-oceedingo.
