Thera was a very large gathering, and proceedings wore enthusiastic. This afternoon General Birdwood 1 visited Christ's College, where foe met with a fine reception, and later on he visited the Chalmers Military Ward at the hospital. i Addressing the boys at Christ's College, General Birdwood urged them to stick to the traditions that had been formed »j their fathers, tincles, and brothers m the N.Z.E.F., and to remember that tho qualities of comradeship, loyalty and initiative, which toad meant so muoh on Gallipoli, would 'arry them through life,: The future of the nation, * sa l.' , de !P eDd6(l oa - maintenance of a high moral. Let them make up their minds tEat they would never allow what was happening in Russia to take place in flheirown country. When the fame came for them to leave school thoy should go on playing in teams as they played at school, remembering the motto of Winchester College, "Manners Make tie Man," and doing their, best, to help a lame dog over tho, stile.
