As a result of trawling investigations of fishing-grounds off the New South Wales coast, it is reported that 750 miles of fresh trawling sea bottom has been added to tho State's fish' resources, and abundanco of good edible fish, besides rare scientific specimens of marine life, have been found. - Councillor P. At yesterday's meeting of the Hntt County Council, a resolution imsscd by the Stratford Borough Council urging tho Government to take the necessary steps to make Saturday afternoon a universal hailf-holiday throughout the Dominion was read, and it was decided to endorse it. At the meeting cf the Miramar Borough Council last night the Mayor (Mr. S. M. Stone) xaid ho had been advised by the secretary of the Hospital Board that a vacancy had occurred through tlie resignation of Mrs. Sarah Beck, and that 'the- borough, in conjunction with ffio Wellington City.Council, had to fill the vacancy. Mr. Stone said that ho hod nominated Mr. B. G. H. Burn, late Mayor of Karori, who was the next cand'date on the poll, A suggestion that a trades directory should be included in the telephone list was maue to the Secretary of tho Post Office recently by representatives of the Wellington Central Chamber of Commerce. The Secretary undertook to look into the matter. A telephono list containing a trades classification of subscribers used to lie issued in Wellington many years ago, but it was not an official publication.
