PETONE ROWING CLUB
Tho annual reunion of members of the Petone Eowing Olub took place at the Lyceum Theatro on tiaturday evening and proved a great success. " jur. V. Mothcs presided. The chairman stated that the Geason just concluded had been one of the most successful iu the history of the club. The club started with 34, and ended with CO members. As a' result of the recent bazaar (which had -been organised by the ladies, the club had not only wiped off a debt of £155, but had a credit balunco of £150. At the recent regatta the club had obtained, out of six entrants, one first, a dead heat, and two seconds-a commendable record, .commented tho chairman. 'I'he Bpeaker complimented the club and its president on their line efforts last season. The president of the club (Mr. O. Gollett) congratulated tlie club on tho success it had attained, and complimonted tho committee on tho result of its past labours. The speaker suggested that in the future, now that the club'B financial position was sound, efforts should bo .put forward to improve the clubhouse, as for instance, by tho addition of a gymnasium or a reading room. By theso means a good social spirit would bo engendered. The improvement of tho club then was the object to -be attained next season. Mr. Oolletlt, in conclusion, Btatcd that |he would donate a cup for competition next season. The announcement was received with applause. Trophies and medals were presented as follow:—Mothes Memorial Cup—Senior pairs: O. H. Haddock (str.) and If. Love (bow), Drummond Cup—Junior pairs; 11. Allan and T. Love. Wellington ficgatta Winners.—Maiden pairs: O. H. Haddock (£.P. tea set), M. Love (gold medal). Olub Medals—J. Brady, M. Lave, M. Allan, T. Lovo. Junior fours: T. Ingham. Club fours: T. Hickey (antique vase). Cox, 1920 medal: J. Polloqk, W. Brady, H. Love. During the evening the following toasts wero honoured:—"Tho King" (proposed by the chairman); "Tho Wellington Eowing Association" (proposed by Mr. IV. R. Hume and responded to by Mr. Deihl); "The Ladies" (proposed by Mr. J. Mockeridge and j responded to by Mr. P. Mothes); "Regatta Winners" (proposed by tho chairman and responded to by Mr. W. Hume); "Kindred. Sports": (proposed by Mr. H. Tremain and responded to by Messrs. S. Price and W.- Langridge); and "The Press." A bright programme was submitted, among those contributing to it being:— Messrs. 0.- Ryan, L. Boyd, M. Allan, J. Mookeridue, M'Arthur. M. Ford, A. Kyle, W. Blandford, C. Blandford, and the club Gleo Party.
