PUBLIC ENGAGEMENTS IN VICTORIA CONCLUDED. Melbourne, June 7. The Prince eoncludcd his public engagements in Victoria on Saturday. After attending the races, where he backcd several horses, but failed to pick a winnei, ho attended a special theatre performance, and at both functions was the recipient of enthusiastic demonstrations. Pending his departure to fill his New South Wales engagement, the Frincq will spend a week in retirement.—Pre6S Assn. f (Rec. June 7, 11.50 p.m.) Melbourne, June 7. Tho Prince attended Flemington in mufti, shunning the Royal box and viewing tho races from the committee stand. During the respite from public functions the closest secrecy is being observed regarding the Prince's movements.
