HOURS AND WAGES
STOREMEN'S AWARD. An award of the Arbitration Court in the dispute of the Wellington Storemen's Union anil the employers in Wanganui was filed yesterday. The employers are various large firms with branches in Wanganui. The award flies the hours of work at eight a day for five days of the week and four on Saturday, The minimum wage for permanent hands is fixed at ,£4 2s, Gd. a week, and for casuals at Is. lid. per hour.' . Overtime between G p.m. and 10 p.m. shall be paid for at tip rate.of 2s. 7d. per hour, and between 10 p.m. and 8 a.m. at Bs. lOd. per hour. Provision is made for double rates on statutory holidays, and time and a half for other specified holidays. Employers are to provide workers employed on hides and skins with canvas aprons and leggings. No individual worker is to carry bagged goods exceeding 2001b.. in weight; First-aid andi medical outfits must be provided ill all stores, easily accessible to all workers. The award is for two veal's, from June 14. 1920, to June 14, 1922.
