JOHNSONVILLE SCHOOL COMMITTEE

Tho Johiifionvitle Committee met on Tuesday evening, Mr. P. T. O'Neill, chairman, presiding. Disappointment was expressed at the. action of tho Otokara County Council relative to their action regarding tho •swimming pond, and it was resolved to prepare a petition to be canvassed among the ratepayers concerning the eame.^ Tho Works Committee presented their report, urging that sundry repairs and improvements were urgent, The matter was left in the hands of the' new Works Committee. It was agreed to spend JBS ■ upon, necessary repairs at the Newland School. Mr. P. T. O'Neill. Mr. J. C. Moore, and tho Rev.. N. Turner were appointed a Works Committee for tho ensuing year. Strong exception was taken to the fac» that the whcie of the money raised was to be devoted to the recreation reserve, tho same being gathered bv means of a, carnival in whicli tho school children had taken activo part in canvassing, it being clearly understood that part of the project was in aid of the swimming pond scheme. Tho secretary was instructed to vrito to tho Town Boftrd and chairman of tho Sports Committee entering a protest. On the motion of Messrs. Rodda and Kenny, Mr. P. T. O'Neill and lie Rev. N. Turner were appointed represent.!tives on the School Committeo Association.
