M'Ewan), was held in the Council Chambers 011 Wednesday evening.. Tho gathering was largely representative, members of tlio Druids Lodge, Railway Workshops, of which Mr. Beard was an employee, and a largo number of tho general public being present. A committee was form ed v with tho Mayor as chairman and Mr. W. B. Gongli as secretary, to make arrangements for a benefit concert, which it was hoped to hold shortly. Yesterday a hockey loam representing tl;fo Iluin Club travolled to Greytown to play a match against tho local team. Aft'or a fast and interesting game tho Huia men won by 5 goals to i. The Wellington toam speak highly <jf tho hospitality accorded to thorn by tho Greytown residents, and look forward to again meeting tlio Greytown team.
