HUTT LICENSING' COMMITTEE

ANNUAL MEETING. Mr. W. G. Eiddell, ,'S.M.,. presided over tlie annual iMeting of.-thb'Hutt Licens'ns Committee, held ycste'rday. There wCro iilbo present: Messrs. A. Anderson, M. IV. Welch and W. T. Oottoi.. Tho chairman said that,- as a whole, the police report respecting, the hotels in the Hutt district' was although the conduct of : one or tao was not all it should liavo been. The Grand Naional .Hotel. Potone, was stated to ho badly conducted; tlio buildings and furniture wero in need of repair, the beds wtre in a state of delapidatiou, "and tho linen filthy. The interior was also in ai bad state and showed lack of attention. The conduct of the Family Hotel. Lower Hutt, also, did not compare favourably with that of other hotels, the licensee having been convicted on three occasions for' Kmiday trading. The standard of tlio ■' had eteatly deteriorated during tho year. jliiu committee deoided to' adjourn the application of T. Pudney. tho licensee of the Grand Rational Hotel, for ono month E. C. Heid, licenßeo of -tho : Family Hotel while granted a renewal, was instruotod to see that the oonduct of tho house wm brought up to tho standard of other hotels. A transfer of tho license of tho Central Hotel, Lower Hutt, was granted J. Selway from Mrs. Bland.

Mrs. E. M'Brido was granted a temporary transfer of license from T. Pudnuy, licensee of tho Grand National Hotel, Pe- 1 tone.

The applications of the following for renewal of liconses were approved:—A. 0, Wright, Central Hotel, Pctone; Winifred Draggstrom, Taita Hotel: Myra Campbell, Victoria Hotel. Petono; E. C. Eeid, Family Hotel, Lower Hutt; Nellie St. Ledger, Bellevue Hotel, Lower Hutt.; A. T. Gatrel, Railway Hotel. Lower Hutt; and A. Let/ nfts granted a wholosale license.
