DUTCH-NAVY
BIG SHIPS TOO COSTLY. London, May 23. "The Times" Amsterdam correspondent says that Holland will not give up her navy, which is regarded as indispensabln to the country's independence, but the Government reports that tho oonstruction of big ships is too costly. Submarines, aeroplanes, and minelayers will at present suffice for' the main home defence, and similar provision is needed for the colonies, in addition to a fast light cruiser and destroyers. It was decided therefore to complete the interrupted construction of the cruisers Java and Sumatra.—"The Times."
