The election campaign is characterised by much rioting in. various centres. Von Graefe, a -well-known Conservative Deputy, was brutally ill-treated at a meeting in Mecklenberg, whevo tho tension is exceptionally great. Several land-owners n&d their families fled to Berlin. It is reported that tho agricultural labourers are plotting to expel landlords and divide the estates. The Government has promulgated an odict forbidding private enlistment in tho new military corps under a penalty of five years' imprisonment— Aus.-N.Z. Cable A6sn.-P.mitor.
