Captain Henry I'isk, one of llio bestknown coastal masters in New Zealand, died at Wellington on Tuesday night, at; the age 78 years. Captain FUk was born at Wood bridge, Suffolk, in ISI2, and served his time on.the barque Emily, which was engaged in tho Mediterranean and Baltic trade. During tho Civil War, ho was trading on the American coast and to the West Indies. Leaving tlio American trade in ISG2, the lato Captain I''isk joined the sliip Star of Tasmania, ai<l in that vessel mado a trip io London. He..next turned his attention to New Zealand, and, landing at Bunedin, temporarily left tlio sea in order to take up gold-mining. After three years at the diggings, however, he decided to follow the sea again, and after a course of study he took his certificate of competency for the coasts of New Zealand. 'He was afterwards in chargo of a number of coastal vessels. In 189G ho received tlio appointment of pilot for llio New Zealand coast, and for many jenrs was stationed at tlio Wairau bar. Captain Fislc was known from one end of Now Zealand to tlio other. lie leaved a widow and a. grown-up family, tlio members of ,whioh are: Captain Arthur 11. Ir'isk (of the s.s. Waitangi), Itossrs. V. Fisk (Customs forvice), Isaac I'isk (engineer for tlio Napier Borough Council), llenry Fisk (General Post Ottice), Wilson Fisk (Wellington), Napier Fisk (Levin and Co., Blenheim), and Mesdames Ferner and Wilkinson (Wellington).
